Kyla Vitek Jewellery is committed to being as eco-friendly as possible in my business practices and I believe in doing my part to protect the delicate balance of our planet. As many of you know, the jewellery industry can be quite dirty & not so environmentally aware at times. That's one of the reasons why it's so important that the jewellery I make is not just nature inspired, but also produced sustainably.

Here are some things I'm doing to limit my footprint:

• Source from transparent & responsible supply chains, and ensure that I purchase from local suppliers whenever possible.
• Use recycled metals whenever possible (precious metals can be recycled and don't lose their qualities), save and reuse or refine scrap and choose suppliers who do the same.
• Use only ethically sourced and conflict free diamonds & gemstones in compliance with the Kimberly Process, and encourage the use of Canadian diamonds when possible.
• Ensure clean production by disposing of waste properly and eliminating or limiting more toxic processes (like plating).
• Choose suppliers and stockists who employ fair production / work practices such as a living wage, reasonable hours and safe working environments.
• Provide eco-conscious packaging. 
 
Packaging details:

Bags: Made with 100% recycled paper.
Boxes: Made with 100% recycled fibers and 100% green hydroelectricity. Filled with 100% recycled universal fibre.
Tissue: Navy colour made with 100% recycled material, Kraft colour made with 75% recycled material.
Mod boxes: made with rigid paper, topped with removable seed paper that can be planted.
Seed paper: made in Canada from recycled paper, embedded with seed blends that are non-invasive, non-GMO & safe for planting anywhere in North America (I currently have dill and basil seed papers available).
Business cards / Thank you cards: made with fast-growing bamboo and cotton / made with recycled cotton from T-shirt offcuts.
Shipping mailers: 100% curbside recyclable protective mailers.
 
Please note: I have been unable to source an eco version of my fancy ring boxes, but I hope you'll keep these lovely boxes anyway! In the meantime, I will continue to look for the best option available - and am open to suggestions!
