Intermediate Jewellery Class - Lost Wax & Organic Casting

In this two-session class, you'll learn how to transform wax models and found organic materials into solid jewellery. We'll cover the essentials of preparing organic objects for casting, as well as how to shape and refine wax for one-of-a-kind designs. Session 1 is dedicated to carving and preparing your wax or organic model. Session 2 (scheduled 3 weeks later) will focus on finishing your castings after they return from the casting company, including cleaning, adding additional findings (bale, ear wires, etc) and polishing to create your final piece.

Small class (max 4 students), hands-on instruction, all consumables & taxes are included. Up to 10g of silver is included to complete your project, additional silver required for heavier designs or multiple pieces is $5/g. I can help you estimate the weight of your model before casting so you know the final cost. Sterling silver, gold or bronze are available (bronze is not suitable for rings).

Date & Time for Next Class: Session 1: Sunday, August 31th 1:00-5:00; Session 2: Sunday, September 21st 1:00-5:00. Includes 3 hours of guided instruction, plus one optional hour of open studio time in each session for finishing or experimenting. If castings are back sooner & everyone's schedules allow, session 2 may be held earlier.

Beginner students may prefer to start with the Cast Band Ring class for a more structured introduction to wax carving and measurement.

(You may complete more than one small organic or wax-carved piece if time allows.)

Location: 213 John St. in Pontypool, ON. You are welcome to park in the driveway, but please note it may be blocked in by other attendees. Street parking is also available. The studio is located at the back of the property behind the house - follow the driveway up to the grey building with double doors; there will be signs.

Group Booking & Discount: Bring 3-4 friends and enjoy $20 off per person! Group discounts are applied when one person pays for the full group at checkout. Please coordinate with your friends before registering. Semi-private groups may have additional students join; fully private classes can also be scheduled on alternate dates (subject to availability). Max 4 students per class. 

Note: Sorry kids, participants must be 18+ for insurance purposes.

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations more than 3 days before class are eligible for a credit or refund minus a $25 cancellation fee. For group bookings (3-4 students), the fee is $25 per person. This fee helps cover materials that have already been purchased and prepared. There is no refund or credit for cancellations less than 3 days prior to the start of class. A registration may be transferred to another person at no charge. For group bookings, if someone in your group can't attend, you may replace them with another participant at no charge.
